Subject: Statement of Appreciation and Commendation for the tireless Humanitarian Services by the Holy Rosary Sisters to the Refugees in Guinea, and to the many who now
have returned to Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Sister Monica,
Please permit us to express through you, our profound thanks and appreciation to the Catholic Mission and their Donors for the valuable humanitarian assistance they have continued since our arrival in Guinea.
Rev. Sister Monica, we would like you to kindly join us in extending our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the God-fearing Holy Rosary Sisters, assigned here in Guinea, and now en route for residence in Liberia, in the persons of Sisters Mary Mullin, Ann Kelly and Bridget Lacey, for their relentless, valuable humanitarian services rendered and continue to render to us refugees in many of the following areas:-
To begin with, we honestly salute and appreciate the good work and the knowledge imparted to us, the suffering refugees, in the areas of Adult Literacy, Business Management and Counselling Skills, in both camps and urban areas. Many times the Sisters gave assistance to refugee mothers for their malnourished babies/children, medical assistance to some of our number admitted in Kissidougou Central hospital, when UNHCR and those responsible failed to provide medicines for better treatment. They advocated the release of refugees at various Security Centres/Prisons; assisted the refugees’ churches in the camps and in Kissidougou. Most importantly, they assisted and facilitated the Voluntary Repatriation of refugees during the heat of armed incursions in 2000 and 2001 into Guinea by rebels from the neighbouring countries.
While many of us are voluntarily returning to our war-ravaged country (Liberia), your visit to the Holy Rosary Sisters, in building the man-power of our nation through humanitarian assistance and many other activities, is very timely.
We therefore say, on behalf of the Liberian and Sierra Leonean Refugees in the camps and urban Kissidougou region, a happy, happy welcome to you in Guinea. We strongly hope that the Almighty God will continue to protect the good work of your hands, and the donors in providing the needs to the Sierra Leonean and Liberian Returnees as well as the other residents in their respective countries through our able and hard-working Holy Rosary Sisters.
May God bless you and the Sisters in all your undertakings!
Kindest regards,
Respectfully submitted,
Anthony S. Armah (Senior)
Urban Liberian Refugee Committee.
